What are the Lexile and Quantile Growth Planners?

The Lexile and Quantile Growth Planners apply a universal metric to project and monitor growth toward key milestones from as early as 3rd grade. The growth project can be used to determine if the student is on track to be college and career ready by 12th grade. If the student is projected to fall short of graduating college and career ready, the Growth Planner can identify the recommended growth path to close the gap between where they are and where they need to be. The Growth Planner includes resources to encourage and promote reading and math growth to meet the desired goals. It also shows how the student compares to other students across the nation. Basic+ and Premium Lexile and Quantile Hub users can compare the projected performance of the student to the entry-level text and mathematical demands of college and careers and view additional national and regional career data.

How does the Growth Planner project my student’s growth?

The Growth Planner uses student measures that are issued by state-wide annual tests, commonly referred to as end-of-grade or end-of-course tests, to project a student’s future growth. The projecting ability of the Lexile and Quantile Growth Planner is based on years of past Lexile and Quantile measures from state-wide annual tests. A student’s Estimated Growth Path is based on the growth of students in the population that perform similarly to this student based on these measures. When four or more student measures are entered, the Growth Planner analyzes the data and develops a specific Estimated Growth Path based on the growth of that specific student.
